Lions Backed For South Africa Series Win Despite Alun Wyn Jones Blow

The British and Irish Lions are being well backed to overcome the world champions in their tour of South Africa despite the tourists jetting off minus captain Alun Wyn Jones.

Preparations for both sides suffered setbacks at the weekend as the Welsh skipper was ruled out of the series due to injury, before three positive Covid-19 tests were revealed within the South African camp forcing the whole squad into isolation.

Jones’ shoulder injury marred a routine 28-10 warm-up victory for the Lions against Japan on Saturday,

which resulted in us cutting a series victory over the Springboks into 8/11 from 5/6 before the squad boarded their flight on Sunday evening.

Iain Henderson has also been strongly backed to start the first test in Alun Wyn Jones’ absence and the Ulster captain is now an odds-on 4/11 from 2/1 to line-up on July 24th in Cape Town.
