Seeley’s Selections – League One Play-Off Final

Preston v Swindon

Outright Betting

Unlike most recent play-off finals Sunday’s League One clash between Preston and Swindon has all the ingredients to be a real cracker.

Preston will think that they were mighty unlucky not to have already gained automatic promotion this season after they bottled it on the final day of the regular season and have a history of doing so in the play-offs.

Preston have been in this position three times before and they’ve lost the lot, but there is a whole lot to like about them making amends this time around.

Simon Grayson’s side arrive at Wembley in fine fettle with just one defeat in their last 19 games and I think they will show their class with a victory inside 90-miutes which is 6/5 with BoyleSports.

Preston are 8/13 to be playing the Championship next season which is also a good bet and will suit the bigger players amongst us.

These two met in April and Preston smashed them 3-0 with a hat-trick from star man Joe Garner. Swindon did win 1-0 earlier in the season, but that win at Deepdale is the more eye catching of the two and the more relevant for this one.

Garner is the best player in League One and he’s already scored 26 goals this season despite missing a month with injury. The 31/20 with BoyleSports on him scoring in this one is decent.

They boast the best strike partnership in the division and one that won’t look out of place in the Championship with Garner’s strike partner former Everton marksman Jermain Beckford scoring 12 in his last 17 appearances.

Preston are also unbeaten in the 13 games in which Beckford has scored and I fancy him also to find the net at the 19/10 with BoyleSports.

If you fancy Swindon then they are a best prices 13/5 with BoyleSports to win this, but they just might fall short after a thrilling semi-final win over Sheffield United that might have taken a lot out of them.

The Robins didn’t end this season in the greatest of form, but they are a goal threat having scored 17 goals in their last eight matches and I do think they will give their supporters something to cheer about with a goal.

Both teams to score at the 3/4 with BoyleSports is a bet I like.

The play-off omens are good for the underdogs as unlike their opponents they have a great play-off record winning three of their four Wembley appearances and this is the fifth successive season that the clubs who finished third and fourth have met in the final – and the side that finished in fourth place has won the lot.

Records are there to be broken and I think they will in this one and at 14/1 with BoyleSports I’m going to have a few quid on a 3-1 Preston win and at 13/2 with BoyleSports in-form Beckford just has to be the man to put your money on to grab the opener and if he scores Preston NEVER lose.

Seeley’s Selections:
Preston To Win @ 6/5
Both Teams To Score – YES @ 3/4
Correct Score Preston 3-1 @ 14/1
Jermaine Beckford First Goalscorer @ 13/2

B lucky

Nigel.
