Seeley’s Selections – Newcastle v Liverpool

The Premier League live action starts with a tasty match-up at St James’ Park in the early kick-off on Saturday between Newcastle and Liverpool.

Football is a funny old game, three weeks ago Newcastle were amongst Boylesports favourites for relegation and Alan Pardew’s tenure at St James’ had to come to an end. Now they’ve only lost one match in their last seven and Pardew is a leading candidate for October’s manager of the month award.

This recent good run by the Geordies hasn’t gone unnoticed by myself but Boylesports odds-compilers don’t seem to be that impressed with whats been happening up in the “toon” with quotes of 14/5 on them to win this one.

A win on Saturday will see them register a fourth straight victory and they are unbeaten at home since the opening day of the season so that has to be snapped up.

They impressed me in midweek when they dumped a very strong Manchester City side out of the Capital One Cup and at those odds you just have to get involved.

I’m convinced they don’t lose this game, against in my opinion a very, very average Liverpool side who have done nothing to justify their quote of evens to win here with Boylesports.

The two drew 2-2 last season which is 11/1 to happen again with Boylesports and a stalemate is a contender especially as the home side have drawn two of their three home Premier League matches this season.

So, perhaps the best way to play in the match is to take the Newcastle-Draw double chance with Boylesports at 5/6.

As you have probably gathered by now I can’t have Liverpool at the moment against anybody, they were very fortunate to beat Swansea in the Capital One Cup in midweek and have only won three times in their last nine.

The evens with Boylesports to win this one is to be avoided like the plague as Brendan Rogers’ side have a massive Champions League match in midweek at Real Madrid and one eye could be on the clash at the Bernabeu rather than the job at hand.

This fixture has a history of goals with 34 scored in the last eight meetings at St James’, I fully expect that goal rush to continue over 2.5 goals in the game is 8/11 which looks a good thing and for Both Teams To Score in the game Boylesports will give you 8/13.

Mario Balotelli is Boylesports 4/1 favourite in the first goalscorer market but my idea of a first goalscorer would be Newcastle marksman Papiss Cisse at 15/2.
