Seeley’s Selections – Real Madrid v Juventus

What a Champions League semi-final second leg we have in store on Wednesday night with the mouthwatering clash between Real Madrid and Juventus with a place in the final up for grabs.

These two played out a surprisingly entertaining match last week in Turin and I expect more of the same on Wednesday. The tie is finely poised after last week’s action and it really is a 50/50 split to see who makes it through to Berlin next month and BoyleSports just make the hosts their favourites to qualify at 5/6 with Juventus 10/11.

The Italians arrive in the Spanish capital with a slender 2-1 lead and according to the stats, that still might not be good enough. There has been 19 occasions where the home team has won their home first leg 2-1 and in only nine of them they’ve made it through to the final and with most facing a much easier task than what Juventus come up against on Wednesday.

Juventus are 9/2 to win this one, which I believe is beyond them as their record in Spain is shocking. The Old Lady has surprisingly only won twice in their last 20 visits to Spain in European competition. Los Blancos have to attack from the opening whistle and I think this will be a cracker for all the neutrals and one that could go on for a long time and I like Real Madrid to win this 2-1 which is 7/1.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty at the weekend to show he is human after all and he will be on a one man mission to overtake Lionel Messi in the Champions League goalscoring charts. Even at 11/4 with BoyleSports for the Portugeezer to grab the first goal, that’s a decent bet as is the 3/4 on him to score anytime as he has already banged in 53 goals this season and has managed a life-time total of 76 in the Champions League.
