Seeley’s Selections – Southampton v Man United

The wheels might not have come off just yet down at Southampton but a couple are starting to look very wobbly indeed and tonight they have another massive test of their Champions League credentials when they entertain Manchester United at St Mary’s.

Back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Arsenal has seen many talking down their chances of a top-four finish but they would have been encouraged ahead of this one by Chelsea’s defeat at the weekend and Liverpool’s failure to gain three points at home to Sunderland.

A few weeks ago we would all be falling over ourselves to get stuck into Boylesports 19/10 available on Ronald Koeman’s side tonight but a couple of bad results and it’s funny how our opinions change so quickly, well mine anyway.

The big problem for Koeman and for punters contemplating a wager on the Saints is the loss of key man Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French international is crucial to this side and his injury just before half-time against City was the chief reason for the second half capitulation. To make things worse for Koeman his replacement Jack Cork is also ruled out through injury.
The Saints always lose to the Premier League big guns, they’ve only won once in 19 against sides that have finished in the Top four the previous season, and that’s been highlighted again in recent weeks.

United will arrive on the South Coast with confidence sky high after four straight wins.

After an awful start to the season, Louis Van Gaal looks to be turning it around at Old Trafford and a win in this one will see them rise up the table to third. At 8/5 with Boylesports on United to register their fifth straight win, I like those odds. Despite and awful away record of just one win in 10 matches, they always win this fixture was eight wins in the last 10 visits. United have only managed one clean sheet on the road all season at Burnley and I can see Southampton breaching that fragile defence again.

Both teams to score at Boylesports 8/11 would be a yes from me and if playing on a correct score I can see United edging this 2-1 at a tasty 17/2 with Boylesports which was the result in their last away trip to Arsenal.

First goalscorer punters will be all over Robin Van Persie in this Monday night thriller. The Dutchman has scored five times in his last Premier League games against the Saints’ and at Boylesports 9/2 to open the scoring, I’m getting stuck in.
Don’t forget Double Bubble! If your first goalscorer winning selection nets the opener inside the first 20 minutes, Boylesports will double the odds on that winning selection.

B Lucky!
