Seeley’s Selections – Sunday’s Live Premier League Games

If you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool Football Club, well, believe me it can.

Man Utd v Liverpool, 1.30pm, Sky Sports 1

Last week they suffered another disappointing seven days to what is turning into a wretched campaign.

It started on Saturday after being held to a 0-0 draw with lowly Sunderland at Anfield, a match where they had less possession than their opponents and managed just one shot on target.

Then, on Tuesday they were dumped out of the Champions League by Basle after drawing 1-1 with the Swiss champions after yet another tepid Anfield performances.

I’ve said it in this column for a few weeks now that Rodgers won’t last the season and a visit to in-form arch-rivals Manchester United is not the challenge he wants to face at the moment.

United, unlike their opponents come into this game full of festive cheer after five successive wins.

That recent good form has seen Louis Van Gaal’s side move up to third in the table and slashed to win the Premier League title.

Before we get carried away with title talk, let’s continue on the job in hand on Sunday and the home side are 4/5 to win here with Boylesports and I think we could get the Christmas money in early by having a few quid on at that price.

They have been getting the results, but not playing well which is a sign of a decent side and when they do put it all together somebody could be in for a hiding and I can see it happening on Sunday afternoon.

It’s still a mystery how they beat Southampton 2-1 (which was tipped up here) on Monday night, but with the attacking players they possess they will always score goals to get them out of sticky situations.

It’s better to be lucky than good my old fella always says.

Last season a Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge inspired Liverpool came to Old Trafford and won 3-0. Thats a massive 50/1 with Boylesports to happen again. I know it’s time of Father Christmas and fairytales and anybody backing that should get their Christmas list into santa at the same time. Prior to last seasons defeat United had won the last six meeting between the two and I fully expect normal service to resume again here.

Both teams have shocking defences so it’s virtually impossible to see either keeping a clean sheet. Both teams scoring has to be a “yes” which is 7/10 with Boylesports.

Robin Van Persie looked sharp again netting a brace in the 2-1 win at St Mary’s landing our first goalscorer tip and the Dutch international is 9/2 with Boylesports to open the scoring on Sunday afternoon and I’m not deserting him this time.

We got a nice Christmas bonus on Monday when RVP landed the “Double Bubble” and let’s hope he can deliver the goods again by scoring the opener inside the first 20 minutes which means Boylesports will double his odds.

With goals expected and a comfortably home win my idea of a correct-score is a 3-1 success for United at Boylesports 12/1 which could spell the end of Rodgers.

Swansea v Tottenham, 4pm, Sky Sports 1

This week’s “Super Sunday” offering is probably one of the most difficult matches on the Premier League coupon to call when Tottenham travel to Wales to take on Swansea.

The Swans are the Boylesports 6/4 favourites to win this one and when you consider that they have only lost once in their 10 home matches you can make a case for them at that price.

Whats putting me off a “serious” wager on the home side here is that they’ve never beaten Tottenham in the Premier League in Wales… after looking at the pros and cons for both sides they will finally get that win this weekend.

Tottenham are struggling with their league form immediately after participating in the Europa League. They’ve lost three of the five games they have played after returning from European action and they look set to struggle again here.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men lost in midweek in Turkey 1-0 to Besiktas and all though the personnel will be changed for this one the problem still remains the same…..scoring goals! Spurs have now gone three games without a goal and I can see that run continuing on Sunday.

They were truly awful in their last Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace in last weeks 0-0 draw and they could still be playing now and they wouldn’t have scored.

Garry Monk has done a great job in his first full season in charge at the Liberty Stadium but he will be without suspended goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for this one. I don’t think it’s going to make much difference against this powder-puff Tottenham strike-force, I’m sure I could play in goal and not be troubled too much.

If Tottenham don’t boast any fire power up top, the same can’t be said for the home side who have in-form Wilfried Bony at their disposal.
The Ivorian has scored over 50% of Swansea’s goals this season and scored one and was unlucky not to add to his tally in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham last week.

Bony is 9/2 with Boylesports to open the scoring in this one and with seven Premier League goals so far this season that has to be snapped up.

I just can’t see Tottenham scoring here and there are a number of ways to play that eventuality but the best bets would be a Swansea win to nil at 7/2 at Boylesports and a 2-0 or 3-0 home win at 11/1 and 22/1 also tempt me.

No team has conceded more goals in the opening 15 minutes in the Premier League than Tottenham which gives me great confidence on Bony landing Boylesports “Double Bubble” which means you will get double the odds if the Ivorian nets inside the opening 20 minutes.
