Seeley’s Selections – Tuesday’s Champions League Ties

The Champions League is back this week and for the first time in a very long while we reach the quarter-finals without a single English side left in the competition.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid

Most punters would have already given up on the tournament, but don’t be too hasty as Tuesday night’s live ITV clash between Atletico Madrid and city rivals Real Madrid has thrown up a few very tasty wagers.

This is a repeat of last year’s final and Real will be looking to make history by becoming the first team in the tournament’s new format to successfully retain the trophy – they won’t though.

Real Madrid may have beaten their city rivals in last year’s final, but since then local bragging rights have always been earnt by Atletico.

Diego Simeone’s side have faced Real six times already this season and they’ve yet to lose a game

which makes the 9/5 on them to win this first leg with BoyleSports a very tasty price indeed.

Atletico won the La Liga fixture 4-0 earlier in the season and in their three matches they’ve faced them at the fortress Vincente Calderon, they’ve won every single game to nil, something they’ve also done in every Champions League game they’ve played at home this season; at BoyleSports 7/2 that looks another cracking wager.

I think this well be very tight and with goals are expected to be at a premium, under 2.5 goals looks a decent shout at 7/10 and for a correct-score Atletico to just nick the first leg 1-0 at 7/1 with BoyleSports looks the most sensible shout.

Gareth Bale is the only British player left in the Champions League and he’s 13/2 with BoyleSports to open the scoring, but expect Atletico’s rock solid defence to keep him quiet. I also expect them to do the same to star man and 4/1 favourite to score the first goal, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Atletico defender Diego Godin always has the knack of scoring some crucial goals and at 20/1 with BoyleSports to grab the first on Tuesday, he would me my choice in what looks certain to be a tight one.

Seeley’s Selections:
Atletico To Win To Nil @ 7/2
Under 2.5 Goals @ 7/10
Diego Godin First Goalscorer @ 20/1

Juventus v Monaco

In the night’s other quarter-final Juventus host Monaco in Turin.

I like the home side strongly in this one, but you not going to get rich by backing them at the 40/85 which is available with BoyleSports.

I not only like the “Old Lady” in this tie, I also like them at the 8/1 with BoyleSports to win the tournament.

Like Atletico, the Italians’ strength in this competiton has been their defence which has seen them keep a clean sheet in five of their last six Champions League matches.

Again, I like a Juventus win to nil which is 20/21 with BoyleSports and in my opinion is the best bet of the night’s two matches.

Under 2.5 goals also looks good at 11/20 and if you played that in a double with the Madrid game under 2.5 goals as well, then I’m sure you will be rewarded with a nice tidy winner and my correct-score fancy is for Juve to win this 2-0 at 9/2 with BoyleSports.

Seeley’s Selections:
Under 2.5 Goals @ 11/20
Juventus To Win To Nil 20/21
Correct Score Juventus 2-0 @ 9/2

B Lucky.
