Shelbourne Open 600 Has New Favourite In Greyhound Contest

Allforthebest has become the new favourite to win the €15,000 Shelbourne Open 600 after a thrilling opening round performance on Saturday.

This son of Vulturi – Aguasantas showed his usual class and pace to take up the lead at the third bend, flying past the pace setter Auxerre.

He went on to win by four lengths in a time of 32.20, the fastest of the competition and BoyleSports have cut him into 7/4 from 4/1 making him the new favourite. Auxerre remains 16/1 while runner-up Hello Hammond has been eased to 16/1 from 12/1.

The consistent Beach Avenue got back to winning ways in heat three for trainer Paul Hennessy clocking 32.42 after coming from behind.

It was a blanket finish in the end, but Beach made every inch of the 600 yards to record victory over Darbys Delight in second and Sentimental Lad in third.

Allforthebest absolutely relishes the extra few yards. He is now our new favourite at 7/4 from 4/1 after his fast first round win in 32.20.

Beach is 4/1 from 5/1 to win the title having made the final last year for his owner Pat Healy. Sentimental Lad is 11/2 from 4/1 while Swords Maestro is 16/1 and is replacing Darbys Delight.

Pennylane Sheba was a good winner of heat two in 32.60. Lynchy Boy set the pace with Pennylane Sheba in last place heading up the back straight.

This daughter of Droopys Jet – Pennylane Lace made up plenty of ground to catch Lynchy Boy and Spinosaurus and win by just a head. Sheba remains 12/1, Lynchy Boy is 40/1 from 20/1 and Spinosaurus is 20/1.

The opening heat went to the popular Fast Fit Paddy in a time of 32.50. He was very strong at the finish to win by a length to Young Bud with Kilkenny Santy another two lengths back in third. Paddy is 11/2 from 8/1 with Kilkenny Santy 40/1 from 50/1 and Young Bud 33/1.

Beach Avenue can never be underestimated at 4/1 from 5/1. The semi-finals are going to be thrilling
