Definite Soldier 50kb

Soldier Definitely Leading The Charge At Limerick

Galway is not far away now and Limerick stages a valuable Galway Plate Trial as their penultimate race, and there is one horse at a price that looks capable of running a big race.

Blackmore Has Definite Claims
If he wins the Galway Plate Trial on Sunday, Definite Soldier wouldn’t even be likely to make the cut for the Galway Plate itself but it is his current rating of 113…

that makes him very interesting at odds of around 14/1.

The eight-year-old is a three-time winner, twice over fences, and this would be a nice way to pick up another success over the larger obstacles.

Definite Soldier’s first run of the season was a decent effort behind the admirable mare Tellthemnuttin at Wexford and, at Killarney just nine days later, he finished second when returning back over fences when giving best to Mon Lino on soft ground.

He likes to be prominent and at Roscommon in the Connacht National he was still in contention when unseating Andrew Ring at the fourth last and there just looks to be potential for him to exploit his current rating. This is a step up in class but with a light weight on his back at Wexford last year he was able to deny the highly rated Abolitionist and hopefully he can benefit from having just 9st13lbs in this race and find himself getting the better of some more exposed rivals.

Good Opportunity For Thornton’s Tower
Karl Thornton does an excellent job with a small team of horses in his Dublin base and the young trainer could have found an ideal opportunity for Round Tower to open his account over fences.

The son of Presenting is a bumper and maiden hurdle winner and while he wasn’t able to bring up the hat-trick in four attempts in beginners chases last season or last month, the conditions of this race has to put him into contention with so little between most of the eight runners.

Top Of The Town is probably a worthy favourite but this is a step up again and the lack of experience over fences may tell against him on this occasion and therefore Round Tower is given the nod to oblige.

Round Tower is nothing if not consistent and has been rarely out of the first four in 21 starts so has certainly paid his way and hopefully this is good bit of placing and a prime opportunity for the horse to return to winning ways.

Recommended Bets:
Round Tower (6/1) – 3.40 Limerick
Definite Soldier (14/1) – 4.45 Limerick
