Support For Team USA To Draw First Blood At Ryder Cup

Team USA are being backed to get the better of the opening day at the Ryder Cup as they begin their bid to wrestle the trophy back from Europe on Friday.

Pairings for the first session at Whistling Straits are set to be revealed at the opening ceremony on Thursday evening with the hosts now 4/5 favourites from even money to take the first point from the opening foursomes session.

Steve Stricker’s side are also hot favourites at 8/11 from 4/5 to go into the second day’s play with the lead,

…with Europe 15/8 shots to get the better of the eight points up for grabs on the opening day.

Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth (both 3/1) and Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy (both 7/2) are rated the most likely candidates from both sides to contribute a maximum two points to their respective sides’ tallies on day one, with world number one Rahm edging ahead as the 7/1 favourite from 8/1 to finish the week with more points than any other player.

Europe are seeking their eighth Ryder Cup victory in ten meetings, but will start as the 9/4 underdogs having been eased from 2/1 on the eve of tee-off, while the hosts are 15/8 favourites from 2/1 to avenge their seven-point defeat in Paris in 2018.

Bet on the Ryder Cup.
