Teddy Sheringham Reveals Who The Next England Manager Should Be

There are reports that this could be Gareth Southgate’s last tournament with England so that got us thinking about who the next England manager should be.

We had the chance to catch up with former England striker Teddy Sheringham and asked him for his thoughts on who would be the best fit for the England job. Sheringham played for the Three Lions at two World Cups and over his international career he recorded 51 caps for his country along with 11 goals.

The Tottenham and Man United legend also offered his opinion on what’s next for young England star Jude Bellingham, what type of player Man United need to sign and his World Cup predictions for England!

This may well be Southgate’s last tournament and Poch and Tuchel are reportedly interested in the England job, who’s a better fit for the job as a manager?

I think Pochettino would be a better option for the England job than Thomas Tuchel if it is Southgate’s last World Cup.

I love what Pochettino did at Spurs. If you make half decent players better than he’s clearly got something about him.

Spurs had a lovely style of football too so if Gareth does go, he should come in.

Who does Jude Bellingham remind you of as a player, who do you think he could sign for in the Premier League?

Jude Bellingham was so impressive against Iran in every department. If Kalvin Phillips had been playing there’s no way he’d have scored the first goal.

Phillips would have been 25 yards back and watching the play unfold. Bellingham had been told to get forward and obviously had the legs to get back.

He would be a brilliant signing for any ‘big six’ Premier League club. He’s not a carbon copy of Steven Gerrard but they’re similar in the fact they both drive forward from deep.

In terms of which club he suits, Man United will want him but City and Liverpool are way ahead of them at the moment. City looks the most likely, particularly as Pep Guardiola is staying for another two years.

Netherlands winger Cody Gakpo has been strongly linked to Man United, should a January bid by Man United be considered?

Man United do not need another flitty player like Gakpo in their ranks. We need a centre-forward who can lead the line now that Ronaldo has gone.

We need a focal point for the team to hit and who can bring players into play. We cannot go for another technical player who can play as a winger or a false nine.

We already have so many of those in Martial, Rashford and Sancho and right now it’s a bit of a detriment to be honest.

World Cup Predictions

What’s your prediction for the England vs USA match and why?

I was so impressed with how we played against Iran so I think England will have far too much for the USA and will beat them 3-0.

It will be a tough first half hour but we’ll come out on top.

What’s your prediction for the England vs Wales game and why?

I think England vs Wales will be a much tougher game if I’m honest. I can see Bale being a threat but I still think England will scrape it 1-0.

Who has impressed you the most so far in the World Cup?

I thought France looked very good, but so did England.

Argentina and Germany losing is very interesting and will certainly make the remaining games an exciting watch.
