The Form – Tottenham v Arsenal

Tottenham’s Form

Spurs have been struggling for form of late with only two wins in their last five Premier League games. This poor stretch sees Tottenham outside of the top four and Champions League spots with two points separating them from both Man United and Newcastle.

Arsenal’s Form

Arsenal have been by far the most impressive team this Premier League season. Under Mikel Arteta’s reign this team have made the step up from a squad that challenges for a top four spot to a serious title contender this year.

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw last time out against Newcastle which sees them with four wins and that one draw from their last five Premier League matches.

How The Two Teams Match Up – Tottenham v Arsenal Prediction

Tottenham’s Attack

The focal point of this Spurs attack is of course Harry Kane as it has been for most of the past decade. Kane has been in brilliant form in the league this season with 15 goals and 1 assist during this campaign. This goal tally sees him behind only Man City’s Erling Haaland in the scoring charts. In north London derbies no one has scored more than Kane with 14 goals to his credit in the matchup between the clubs.

Tottenham should be full of confidence in attack ahead of this match having put the ball in the back of the net four times against Crystal Palace in their most recent Premier League game. Kane scored twice on that occasion while the other star of this Spurs team Son Heung-min also got in amongst the goals.

Arsenal’s Defence

Since the return of Premier League football following this winter’s FIFA World Cup Arsenal have been as tight at the back as they were before the international break. Arsenal had kept a clean sheet in the three Premier League games heading into the World Cup.

Since league football returned they conceded one goal against West Ham and twice against Brighton. With that being said, Arsenal did win both of those games thanks to their attacking firepower. Over the course of the season this gunners squad have conceded the second least amount of goals in the league with only 14 goals against them.

Arsenal’s Attack

The key to this Arsenal attack is captain Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder has been playing the football of his life this season in an advanced role for Arteta’s team. Odegaard will be pulling the strings in midfield in this game for Arsenal and he will be key to the Arsenal’s attacking game plan.

Further up the field Arsenal have an embarrassment of riches with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka manning the wings and young Eddie Nketiah playing through the middle. Nketiah caught the headlines last time out against Oxford United in the FA Cup with a brace to help his team book their spot in the next round of the cup competition.

Tottenham’s Defence

Tottenham rank out as a league average defence this season in terms of goals conceded. They are ranked 10th in that statistic with 25 goals conceded so far in this campaign which is an average of 1.39 per game.

Antonio Conte’s defensive system is going to be under a lot of pressure from this prolific Arsenal attack.

Tottenham’s goal with their five back system will be to give the gunners little space to work with in advanced areas. We can expect Eric Dier to anchor the middle of this defence and he will likely be joined by Lenglet and Romero to either side.

Tottenham v Arsenal Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal

I’m going with the upset here. Arsenal have been the much better team this season but in a derby like this you can almost throw form out the window. These teams know each other so well so I expect this to be close but in the end I think Spurs get the narrow win at home.

Best Bet: Tottenham Win and BTTS was 9/2 NOW 5/1

Tottenham v Arsenal Prediction – Goalscorer Betting Odds

When it comes to north London derbies there isn’t a more prolific goalscorer than Harry Kane. He’s done a lot of his scoring in these games from the penalty spot and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s where the first goal in this game comes from.

First Goalscorer Prediction: Harry Kane at 9/2
