UFC Fight Night 6/1 Treble

We picked out the best bets from the fight card on Saturday evening to create a tasty-looking treble.

Alexa Grasso To Beat Viviane Araujo @ 2/5

Alexa Grasso goes into this fight against Viviane Araujo as the strong favourite on the back of her current three-fight win streak. In her most recent contest she proved that she can also win on the ground too after her first submission win which came against Joanne Wood.

Viviane Araujo had a strong start to her professional MMA career with an impressive 7-1 record but she hasn’t been as convincing in her most recent fights.

At UFC 262 Araujo suffered a convincing decision loss to Katlyn Chookagian which put question marks around Araujo’s cardio as she tired significantly in the third and final round of that fight.

Araujo’s stamina issues make Grasso look like a very appealing bet here considering this will be a five round fight now since it has been bumped up to main event status.

Brandon Royval To Beat Askar Askarov @ 15/8

Royval is in a great spot to pull off an upset in this fight. Look, I wouldn’t bet on Royval as a favourite but he is the perfect underdog in this spot.

The American is a wildcard and you really do never know what could happen in his fights. Royval is a southpaw who for my money is a better all-around striker than Askarov and will give the Russian trouble with the sheer volume of strikes that he will throw at him.

In Askarov’s most recent fight he was dominated by Kara-France in a contest where he looked to have run out of gas. There were similar stamina issues for Askarov in his fight with Tim Elliot at UFC 246 too.

Expect Askarov to come out strong in the first round but Royval has every chance of gaining the advantage as the fight goes on.

Nick Maximov To Beat Jacob Malkoun @ 8/11

Maximov to win here looks like a great bet at these odds. Both fighters are very similar in terms of fighting style and what they want to do in the octagon.

The key differentiator here is the significant physical advantages that Maximov has over Malkoun. Maximov has a three-inch height advantage along with a three-inch reach advantage too.

At 5’9” Malkoun would probably be much better off fighting at welterweight as opposed to the middleweight classification of this matchup.

Maximov also doesn’t have to worry too much about being beaten on his feet with the size advantage he holds. Both of these fighters like to grapple and Maximov should excel here against Malkoun’s shoddy takedown defence.

Maximov winning thanks to his physical supremacy in this fight looks like the best bet.

The Remaining UFC 2022 Schedule

We still have nine more Saturdays of exciting UFC action left in 2022! The next one being UFC Fight Night 212 in Nevada which we previewed above.

Let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing MMA action that we have coming our way over the last two and a half months of 2022.

UFC 280 Main Event: Oliveira vs Makhachev – October 22nd

Islam Makhachev is the 8/13 favourite in this mouth-watering clash with Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. Makhachev has an incredible 22-1-0 record in the octagon but Oliveira is the #1 ranked fighter in the lightweight division and will be a formidable opponent.

This sets up to be a fascinating fight with a 6/5 underdog like Oliveira who has the most submission wins in UFC history.

Aljamain Sterling vs T.J. Dillashaw is the co-main event on the card which should also sets up to be a cracking fight. Sterling is listed as the 8/15 favourite for the bout.

While the electric “Sugar” Sean O’Malley will draw plenty of interest as a 9/4 underdog he takes on the Russian Petr Yan who boasts a 16-3 professional MMA record.

UFC 281 Main Event: Adesanya vs Pereira – November 12th

Israel Adesanya is one of the hottest names in mixed martial arts these days thanks to his intensity in the octagon and his outspoken nature outside of it.

The middleweight champion has been installed as 4/7 favourite and he looks good value for it too with his 23-1-0 pro MMA record.

Alex Pereira is the man tasked with taking down Adesanya. The Brazilian has an impressive 6-1-0 record inside the octagon with two of his last three wins coming via KO/TKO. Pereira has been set as a 13/10 underdog for this fight.

On the main card, Carla Esparza is the 13/5 underdog against the 2/7 favourite Zhang Weili in a championship matchup for the women’s strawweight belt.

While two of the UFC’s best lightweights do battle in the shape of #2 ranked Dustion Poirier (yes, the one who beat Conor McGregor) who is 4/7 favourite and the #5 ranked Michael Chandler who comes in as the 13/10 underdog.

With all this top-class action UFC 281 is going to be one of the most anticipated MMA events of the year.

UFC Fight Night Main Event: Lewis vs Spivak – November 19th

The main event puts fan-favourite veteran Derrick Lewis up against the Moldovan Sergey Spivak. Lewis will be looking to set the record straight as he comes into the fight off the back of two straight losses.

Spivak on the other hand is in great form after two straight wins and five wins in his last six contests.

The co-main event of the night sees Cody Brundage and Rodolfo Vieira square off in a middleweight clash. Both fighters have the same 8-2-0 professional MMA record in what looks to be an evenly matched bout.
