Irish Punters Hot On Temperature Record Being Scorched

Bookmakers could be feeling the heat if soaring temperatures get much higher with an increasing number of Irish punters banking on the all-time record being smashed before the year is out.

The country was basking in sunshine on Sunday and Met Éireann have predicted a five-day heatwave will see the glorious spell run well into this week.

Ireland’s record temperature of 33.3°C was recorded in Kilkenny in 1887 and odds of 9/2 were being offered just last week for it to be broken before the end of 2021.

But the recent blast of hot temperatures has triggered optimism amongst punters, with bookmakers forced to cut the chances of the record being eclipsed into just 5/2. It’s also a 6/1 shot from 10/1 that the all-time July record of 32.3°C recorded in Roscommon 15 years ago is smashed this summer.
