Gary Neville admitted at the weekend that he still thinks Man City will win the league and Man United can finish second – do you agree?

Gary Neville studies football night and day, I don’t. So Gary’s opinion has to be listened to, that’s for sure.

I can see Arsenal winning the league. They’re going to have a test at some point where they’ll probably draw and lose a game or two and that’s when the media agenda will switch on Arsenal with negativity. It’s how they deal with that which will be key to winning the league.

There’s times, like in the North London Derby, where Arsenal weren’t at their best but they have a goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale who can pull them out of situations – that will be huge as well.

I think Arsenal can win the Premier League. They’ll definitely be in the top two.

How do you think Erik ten Hag can impact Man United’s long-term future?

I think Erik ten Hag can be the man to get Man United back to winning trophies. People always ask if he’s going to be the next Sir Alex Ferguson, but people should forget that. He’ll never win nine or ten championships like Sir Alex. That won’t happen anymore.

Ten Hag is projecting himself in the right way. He’s had difficulties, like dealing with Cristiano Ronaldo, and he dealt with it as well as he could. He didn’t give the media the reactions they wanted of a man in crisis, fighting against Ronaldo. He sailed through it and now everybody knows who the boss is at Manchester United now.

Do you think the signing of Wout Weghorst could be a bit of a waste?

The signing of Wout Weghorst isn’t a waste for Man United. The fact is that most football fans don’t understand most things about football. All they really want to see are shots and tackles. If I went to Old Trafford and asked the fans what system Man United were playing, they wouldn’t have a clue. All they want to see is their team winning.

Weghorst had a good goalscoring record at Wolfsburg. He went to Burnley and only scored a couple of goals but Burnley didn’t score goals at that point anyway, they were getting relegated so he has to be in a team that will create chances and Man United will do that. He will give them alternative options, that’s for sure.

Long-term, I’ve no idea how it’ll work out but the fans have to trust Erik ten Hag.
