Ireland on The Drift To Qualify For Eurovision Final

The Eurovision Song Contest gets underway in Lisbon on Tuesday with Semi-Final 1 taking place.

Ireland’s Eurovision qualification hopes hang in the balance of representative Ryan O’Shaughnessy, who will perform his track ‘Together’ tomorrow evening.

Unfortunately the odds suggest that Ryan will follow in the footsteps of the last four Irish representatives,

…and fail to qualify for the grand final on Saturday, as they have drifted out to 3/1 from 11/4.

Only ten of the nineteen countries will progress to the final from Semi-Final 1 and Ireland feature third from the bottom in the betting, ahead of Iceland (14/1) and Albania and E.Y.R Macedonia, who are both 4/1 shots.

In the outright betting, Israel have shortened as the favourites, having suffered a drift last week and are now 9/5 from 5/2.

Estonia are the new 11/2 second favourites after their odds were cut from 12/1 following a burst of support. They will be represented by Elina Nechayeva with ‘La Forza’. Norway are next at 11/2 with Bulgaria on offer at 10/1 and six time Eurovision winners, Sweden 11/1 shots.
