Seeley’s Selections: Aston Villa v Man City

Stats

Aston Villa v Man City

Match Betting

Only one live TV game on Saturday for Boylesports punters to get stuck into and it’s the evening offering between Aston Villa and…

…champions Manchester City at Villa Park.

My first rule of ANY football betting is this….don’t get involved in odds on aways.

Well that’s exactly what you’ve got to do if you want to back Manuel Pellegrini’s men at 40/85. They are going to win but at those odds there are much better ways to play with Boylesports in this match-up. Last season, when a similar priced Villa turned them over 3-2 and even though that isn’t going to happen again, it shows the perils of trusting the “odds on away”, if you fancy the same scoreline Boylesports will offer you 50/1 on that happening again.

You might want to check out the “is Elvis still alive” market while you are at it…

I really can’t see the home side scoring one, let alone three and I also can’t see them risking last seasons top scorer Christian Benteke, but if they do he’s 7/1 to mark his return with the opening goal.

To get around my “don’t back the odds on away” rule, Boylesports have helped me out in this one by offering 7/5 on the champions to win to “nil”. Villa have lost their last two matches 3-0 against Chelsea and Arsenal and that scoreline does look appealing again at 9/1.

Roy Keane was brought in to give this young Villa team some bite and against the lower level teams in the Premier League it works, but they can’t shut this City side out on Saturday evening. Sergio Aguero is Boylesports’ most likely goalscorer at 3/1 which really surprises me.

The main man at the Ethihad this season has been Eden Dzeko and I much prefer the 7/2 on the giant Bosnian to grab the first goal on Saturday evening.

With four goals already this campaign, with all of them scored in two of his last three matches, plus he netted three goals against the Villa last season, the 19/4 on him scoring two or more is also a bet I’m playing this weekend with Boylesports.

Seeley’s Selections:
Man City To Win To Nil 29/20
Edin Dzeko First Goalscorer 7/2

B Lucky!
