Mutarakez Ticks Boxes For Lincoln Assignment

Britain’s Turf flat season really begins to heat up with the Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday (2.45) and 22-runners will go to post for the £100,000 contest.

Massive Mover
Lord Of The Land has been the major market mover since the betting for this race opened up and from quotes of 20/1 initially, the five-year-old is now just 4/1 for his British debut.

David O’Meara created plenty of headlines last season and is undoubtedly a trainer who may have another massive season ahead of him but whatever they are seeing in this import from France has obviously been very pleasing because even from declaration morning, the horse has gone from being a best priced 6/1 with BoyleSports to now 4/1.

Handicap Good Thing
Maybe Lord Of The Land will go and justify the support and one major plus is that he’ll relish the ground conditions more than most but at this stage rowing in behind him at 4/1 is probably a bit late.

Alternatively, one that looks capable of running a big race is 10/1 chance Mutarakez for Brian Meehan and Paul Hanagan.

Lightly raced as a three-year-old, he did win twice last season in handicap company.

He saw his rating rise from 85 to 101 but there may still be more to come.

Mutarakez’s last run of the campaign was at Ascot when he finished down the field behind War Envoy in the Britannia Stakes but the ground was very lively that day and maybe too much for him and while his win last term came on good ground, he has shown to be effective with more of an ease in it and he certainly ticks a lot of boxes at 10/1 under Paul Hanagan.

Fran Berry booted in his first winner in Britain since making the move across for Ralph Beckett and that duo could combine on the all-weather at Kempton to win the listed Snowdrop Fillies Stakes with Redstart.

Redstart hasn’t raced since finishing down the field behind Legatissimo in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket which just proved too difficult an assignment for her and while she has to defy a lengthy absence this certainly looks a winnable opportunity if she can halt the progression of Volunteer Point.
