The Favourite & Roma Lead The Way With 10 Oscar Nominations

Oscars 2019

Best Picture Winner

The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards have been revealed with The Favourite and Roma leading with 10 nominations.

Roma is hotly tipped to take the Oscar for Best Picture and we have the autobiographical movie about director Alfonso Cuaron’s childhood in Mexico City the firm 10/11 favourite. Green Book, a comedy-drama about African-American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley, is the 7/2 second favourite.

Roma is expected to continue to dominate in the Best Director category with Alfonso Cuaron odds on at 1/12 to walk away with the award.

It is Curaon’s second nomination in the category with his first, for Gravity, seeing him make history as the first Mexican director to win the award. Bradley Cooper missed out on a nomination for his directorial role in A Star Is Born and has drifted out to 9/1 from 9/2 to win the BAFTA for Best Director as a result.

Rami Malek remains on course for his first ever Oscar as he leads the charge in the Best Actor betting as the 10/11 favourite to win for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Christian Bale is a close second however at 5/4 to nab the award for his role in Vice.

In the Best Actress category, it seems it may be a case of fourth times the charm for Glenn Close who is 2/5 to pick up the award for her role in The Wife, having been nominated three times previously and losing out on the gong on all occasions.

The Favourite’s Olivia Colman is next for Best Actress at 11/4, but in the BAFTA betting for the same category it is Colman who is tipped at 1/4 to win with Close in her shadow at 11/4.
