Next Connact Coach

Outright Betting

Connacht Rugby announced on Monday that Pat Lam would step down as coach at the end of the season and we have installed Bernard Jackman as the early favourite to head west.

The current Grenoble Head coach has been installed at 5/2 to succeed Lam.

Former Connacht assistant coach, Dan McFarland, who also played with the side between 2000 and 2006, Jackman’s nearest rival in the betting at 5/1.

Former Irish coach Eddie O’Sullivan is priced at 10/1 alongside Stuart Lancaster with Nigel Carolan next in the market at 12/1. Montpellier coach and former South Africa coach Jake White is priced at 14/1 with Ronan O’Gara next in the betting at 16/1.

Former international and Connacht player Eric Elwood is available at 20/1 whilst outsiders for the job include former Irish coach Declan Kidney at 66/1 and current assistant head coach of Georgia, Michael Bradley, who is priced at 100/1.

UPDATE: We can now report support for current Connacht Academy coach and Ireland U20s coach Nigel Carolan to succeed Pat Lam as head coach. Carolan was initially installed at 12/1 on Monday lunchtime but after a flurry of bets he was quickly made the new odds on favourite at 4/5.

Original favourite Bernard Jackman has been eased out to 5/1 from 5/2.
