The 2023 Sports Direct FAI Cup is the 103rd edition of the Republic of Ireland’s figure-head national cup competition and the winner of the competition earns automatic qualification for the 2024–25 UEFA Europa Conference League.
2022 FAI Cup Champions
The 2022 winners of the competition were Derry City following their victory over Shelbourne but with both sides eliminated from the competition, we will have a different final in the Aviva this season!

First Division Champions Galway have one more task this season: win the FAI Cup, and albeit a tall task with them the only First Division side remaining, their 4-1 victory over Dundalk in the Semi-Final proves it would be foolish to underestimate the Tribesman.
Galway last won the competition back during the 1990-91 season where they defeated Shamrock Rovers 1-0 in the final.

Bohemians are fourth on the table in the league and still harbour hopes of qualifying for European Football next season automatically through the league. However, their best hope could be an FAI Cup victory, with just two more wins needed to secure the same fate through the cup.
Bohemians last won the competition in 2008 when they beat Derry City 4-2 on penalties following a 2-2 result AET.

It’s been a strange season on Leeside, their Premier Division status remains very precarious and will likely boil down to a relegation/play-off game in the coming weeks against a First Division outfit.
The FAI Cup has often been kind to the club. It has been a source of comfort for the club this season and following three First Division draws they find themselves in a Semi-Final with a puncher’s chance of success and European Football next year.

St Patrick’s Athletic have had an excellent season since Jon Daly came in as manager following the departure of Tim Clancy. So much so that they still have trophy aspirations in the Premier Division and the FAI Cup (albeit the former trophy is unlikely it remains very much possible).
They overcame a scare against Finn Harps last round and are now two wins away from winning the FAI Cup for the first time since their success in 2021.
