Cheltenham Gold Cup Market Movers

December 28th

Galopin Des Champs was back to his very best in the Savills Chase and has been slashed into 6/4 from 11/4 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup with BoyleSports. On the back of two defeats following Gold Cup glory in March, he blew away the opposition at Leopardstown and could be called the winner a long way from home.

Gerri Colombe stayed on into second place under Jack Kennedy after hitting his customary flat spot but was ultimately beaten by 23 lengths. He has now drifted to 8/1 for the Gold Cup.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:

“The Savills Chase was the potential festive highlight for many and it lived up to the hype. Galopin Des Champs bounced back to his very best and is now 6/4 to win back-to-back Gold Cups. We can’t wait for his rematch with Fastorslow at the Dublin Racing Festival in February.”

Taking it up at the home bend, he quickly swept clear from the rest of the field as Impaire Et Passe stayed on into second after a poor jump at the second last.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:

On the Limerick card, Gaelic Warrior justified short-priced favouritism by sauntering to victory in the Grade 1 Faugheen Chase, with stablemate Il Etait Temps, back in second.

Stacking them up before turning for home, Patrick Mullins eased Gaelic Warrior clear in the home straight and he was another impressive winner on the day. He has a number of options at the Cheltenham Festival and is EVS from 2/1 for the Turners Chase, 5/1 from 7/1 for the Brown Advisory and 6/1 from 10/1 for the Arkle.
