Armenia Tipped To Top Eurovision Semi-Final

The first semi-final of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest gets underway on Tuesday with 18 countries vying for one of ten spots up for grabs in Saturday’s finale.

Armenia are the current 11/5 favourites to win semi-final 1 with Portugal their nearest rivals at 5/2 and Sweden following closely behind at 10/3 to top the voting on the night.

All three songs have been very well received in rehearsals.

Sweden are Eurovision stalwarts with 55 final appearances and six wins, the most recent in 2015, so it comes as no surprise that they are as short as 1/50 to qualify for the final.

Armenia also have a good track record with nine final appearances out of ten and are also 1/50 to book a place in the final. Portugal are red-hot to join them in the final at 1/20 with their track “Amar Pelos Dois”.

Also in with a shot of making the cut for Saturday’s final are 2006 winners Finland (1/5), Moldova (2/7), Cyprus (2/5) and 1996 winners Belgium at 1/2.

Those in jeopardy of failing to qualify are 2002 winners Latvia (8/11), Poland (4/5), Iceland (11/4), Georgia (9/4), Slovenia (3/1), Albania (9/2), Montenegro (6/1) and Czech Republic (8/1).
