Ballymac Arminta Favourite For Tralee Race Of Champions

The 12th running of the Race of Champions will commence on Friday evening at Tralee racetrack in County Kerry with €15,000 going home with the champion.

Twelve greyhounds will take part in this competition with the final to be run on June 14th which is the big Kerry GAA night.

Ballymac Arminta became the fastest ever bitch in the country last month when she completed 27.70 for the 525 yards trip at Shelbourne Park, just three spots off the official track record of 27.67 set by Paradise Madison.

Arminta had no luck in the final of the Sporting Press Oaks last week but can redeem herself if landing the Race of Champions with her tremendous pace.

Arminta is the 11/4 favourite to give trainer Liam Dowling his first victory in this race

…at his local track. Dowling also trains the third favourite Akelawre with the Easter Cup finalist priced up at 6/1.

Clonbrien Hero was the champion in 2018 beating the 5/4 favourite Droopys Ant and gave trainer Graham Holland a third success in the race. This year Holland trains three hopefuls with the 2018 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby finalist Slippy Cian looking the best of his team and has been made the 7/2 second favourite.
