Ballymac Tas Backed To Be Top Bitch in English Greyhound Derby

There is not long to wait until the start of the 2019 English Greyhound Derby with a fantastic list of entries and a strong entry of 43 Irish runners taking part for the £100,000 winner’s prize.

BoyleSports have priced up plenty of Irish specials that include the ‘Top Bitch’ market. Ballymac Tas has taken the favouritism spot here at 7/2 after her excellent efforts in the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial in Limerick last month.

Another bitch that cannot be ignored is last year’s English Greyhound Derby semi-finalist Oi Oi Upenalty who is priced at 7/1. She is known for her magnificent pace and strong finish but lacks early pace.

There are markets for the Irish trainers on what dog will finish the best for them and a value bet could be Wolfe at 6/1 for Graham Holland, with this son of Tyrur Big Mike possessing major pace and talent.

Akelawre is a nice price at 9/2 for the in-form trainer Liam Dowling with his star showing his ability back in February around Shelbourne Park when he beat the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby runner up Magical Bale by three lengths in 29.32 over 550 yards. It was a super performance and he is not without a chance.

Pat Buckley has a wonderful team of seven dogs heading overseas with the young and improving Burgess Bucks the favourite at 5/2 to claim top position for his trainer in the ‘Top Pat Buckley Trained Runner’ market. Scottish Greyhound Derby winner Braveheart Bobby is second favourite at 11/4.

Paul Hennessy trains BoyleSports Xtra and he is available at 11/4 to be the top dog for his Kilkenny based trainer with Jaytee Taylor the favourite in this market at 5/4.

BoyleSports are huge supporters of greyhound racing especially the Irish Greyhound Derby that we sponsor. We are very excited for the start of the English Greyhound Derby as…

it’s a terrific guide to the talent that will take part in our derby in Shelbourne Park come August.
