Ballymac Wild New Favourite For Irish St Leger As Odds Slashed

The Irish St Leger at Limerick Stadium has been full of drama with the elimination of the original ante post favourite Explosive Boy on Saturday night meaning there is a new frontrunner to win the €30,000 prize.

Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Wild has taken over at the head of the betting, we have cut him into the 4/1 favourite from 8/1 following his 29.47 victory at the weekend.

Wild has been an incredible servant to Liam and he had stiff opposition beating Allforthebest, Romeo Magico and Kilbannon Psycho to remain unbeaten in the competition.

Two-year-old Russian Glory was impressive when winning heat 2 in a fast 29.43 by five lengths to the excellent Scooby Princess. This Graham Holland trained youngster was only having his sixth career start so it’s no surprise to see his odds tumble into 8/1 from 20/1.

Holland struck again in heat 4 with the talented Part Blake who also remains unbeaten in the Irish St Leger. His odds have been clipped into 8/1 from 10/1 after he beat Bling Blink Paul by 5½ lengths in 29.62 with Explosive Boy finishing last after taking a bump.

Pat Buckley is on fire lately as he sent out a terrific treble on the night which was headed by Glengar Bale in 29.49. Bale is now 14/1 from 33/1 as he continues to impress at the southern track.

The 2020 English Greyhound Derby champion Deerjet Sydney was the second winner of the treble for Buckley in 29.60 with his odds into 10/1 from 12/1. The final winner to seal the hat-trick was BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby runner-up Singalong Sally in 29.83 and she remains 12/1 in the betting.
