Barry Geraghty to get some Cheltenham Christmas Cheer

Cheltenham stage a little pre-Christmas treat this weekend and hopefully a horse that has been placed a couple of times at the famous venue on his last two runs can get his head in front this afternoon.

Geraghty to have fruitful day

Barry Geraghty goes to Cheltenham for three very notable rides with Apple’s Shakira the obvious banker in the first race while Movewiththetimes should be able to win the novice chase but it is Le Prezien that is picked to win the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at a decent price.

Third here last month behind Splash Of Ginge, Le Prezien has been expensive to follow

but definitely has the best form in the book to win a race of this nature and this could be the day his backers are rewarded.
The ground shouldn’t be an issue, nor should the trip and although Barry will want to leave his challenge as late as possible, he knows the horse well at this stage and can reap the rewards.

Fairyhouse Double

Value was a difficult thing to find at Fairyhouse tomorrow but Giant Spirit is a horse that looks more than capable of winning a maiden hurdle and can start off his career for Willie Mullins by doing just that.

His price is a short one but he’s actually a third season novice

and while he’s at 1/2 it would be no harm to double him up with Dermot McLoughlin’s Dromore Lad.

Dromore Lad was a winner at Limerick last time in similarly heavy conditions and looked to win that with a bit in hand. A light weight here with Danny Hand’s valuable 7lbs claim makes him appealing and he should be able to hold off the likely market leader Off The Charts.

Suggested bets
Apple’s Shakira – 1/6
Le Prezien – 6/1
Giant Spirit – 11/4
