Betting SUSPENDED On Brexit Talks Ending In Failure

BoyleSports have suspended the betting on talks between the United Kingdom and the European Union breaking down without a deal before the scheduled Brexit date next year.

Hopes of a deal looked slim when Theresa May left a meeting with European leaders in Salzburg having been told that her Brexit blueprint was not going to work, forcing her to ask for ‘respect’ in a statement from Downing Street on Friday.

The odds on no deal being struck were attacked as news emerged from the summit and they were quickly slashed in half to 1/3 from 4/6. But even then the money continued to come in before the market was pulled on Saturday morning.

The deadlock in negotiations has left the whole chances of the UK leaving the EU up in the air and BoyleSports are now only offering a short 5/4 that Brexit doesn’t happen at all before the end of March in 2019. It is still odds-on at 6/10 that the UK does leave the EU on or before March 29th, but that had been as low as 1/4 before the government meeting at Chequers in July.

We had been seeing steady support for no deal from customers but the growing liabilities and one-way traffic in that direction after the Salzburg debacle…

has left us with no choice but to pull the betting altogether until there is even a sniff of another outcome.

March 29th looks an ambitious target date for Brexit now and with so much uncertainty in the air, we can’t offer anything bigger than 5/4 that the date passes without the UK leaving the EU at all and it’s a price that already seen interest as the fall out continues.
