Birmingham City Odds Trimmed Slightly To Progress Over Manchester City In FA Cup

Birmingham City are coming in for some optimistic support from locals to cause one of the shocks of the FA Cup third round when they tackle Manchester City in Sunday’s live clash in front of the BBC cameras.

Pep Guardiola’s men are the favourites to go all the way and lift the trophy at Wembley at just 10/3, with Birmingham out at 150/1 to get their hands on the famous trophy for the first time.

However, the tie is being earmarked by some as a possible upset, with Blues posting a far superior record on the road this season than they have at home in the Championship.

Aitor Karanka’s side have shortened slightly into 17/2 from 10/1 to force the match into extra-time, while the chances of seeing the Blues in the hat for the fourth round draw have also been trimmed into 14/1 from 16/1.

The match is a repeat of the 1956 Final, when Birmingham became the first club to reach the Wembley decider without playing at home in any of the previous rounds. Man City went on to win 3-1 and a repeat of that scoreline is an 11/1 chance.

The Blues have been better away from home this season, but knocking out the Cup favourites is going to be a huge ask. That’s now clipped into 14/1 for them to progress.
