BoyleSports Pay Penalty As Punters Cash In On Salah’s Spot Kick

Liverpool fans were waking up with sore heads on Sunday after a night of celebration but BoyleSports were left counting the cost of a damaging evening following the Champions League Final in Madrid.

The Reds got their hands on the famous trophy for the sixth time in the club’s history on Saturday night after Divock Origi’s late goal sealed a 2-0 victory, but it was Mo Salah’s early penalty that spelt disaster for the bookmaker after their headline offer clicked within two minutes of kick-off.

BoyleSports had been offering double winnings as a free bet for punters on first goalscorer and correct score bets, meaning Salah’s 9/2 chance of striking first was paid out at 9/1, while the 2-0 correct score was settled at a massive 16/1.

That added to the already significant damage for the bookmaker as Liverpool went off hot 10/11 favourites for the match having been backed so significantly in the week leading up to kick-off.

We did dodge one bullet as…

a Virgil Van Dijk goal would have hit us even harder after so many doubled him up with Anthony Van Dyck who won the Derby earlier in the day.

However, the damage has gone deep into the six-figures for us because Liverpool were so heavily backed, and Salah’s penalty really compounded our misery.
