BoyleSports Refund On Ruby After Suspected Broken Leg

We are refunding all bets on Ruby Walsh to be top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival after he left the course by ambulance on Wednesday after a fall.

Walsh was riding Al Boum Photo in the 2.50 when he suffered the nasty fall at the penultimate fence and hobbled off the track to be treated by paramedics. Walsh was stood down for the day and his continued participation in the rest of the Festival was under severe doubt with rumours that he suffered a broken leg.

We subsequently confirmed we will pay out on Ruby should he be fit to go on and claim the top jockey crown, but also committed to refunding bets as cash should the worst fears be realised.

The champion jockey had just returned to the saddle after a lengthy lay-off for the same injury and was a well-backed 8/11 favourite in the top jockey market prior to the off on Tuesday.

He already had two wins under his belt this week after steering Footpad and Benie Des Dieux to victory on day one and was being backed to add to his tally on other favourites including Un De Sceaux and Laurina on Thursday’s card.

It didn’t look good for Ruby so we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the saddle as soon as possible.
