Bullish Robbie Power Says Supasundae Is “Back To His Ultimate Trip”

Robbie Power thinks his mount Supasundae has a ‘great chance’ of beating Buveur d’Air as Nicky Henderson’s former Champion Hurdler goes into Thursday’s big race off the back of a fall at the Cheltenham Festival.

Buveur d’Air is the current 5/6 favourite to return to winning ways but speaking to us directly from Aintree on Thursday morning, Power claimed the market leader could be vulnerable:

“Buveur d’Air has to recover from a heavy fall at Cheltenham and it would be a concern for me because you can do all the schooling at home, but it’s only in the heat of battle that we learn if a horse has remembered his fall.”

“Supasundae has come out of Cheltenham in great form and he’s went on from Cheltenham the past two years to finish 2nd at Aintree, so it doesn’t bother him and he takes it all in his stride. In the Stayers’ Hurdle, I thought I would win it turning in.”

He just didn’t get up the hill on the heavy ground and we’d had a very strong gallop in that race, so I think this is his ultimate trip.

“Both times he’s met Melon he’s beaten him, he’s beaten Faugheen over 2 miles and the horse he hasn’t beaten is Buveur d’Air, so we’ll see if the Cheltenham fall has left a mark on him because he’s the one we have to beat.”
