Buveur D’Air Backed To Make It Three In A Row

BoyleSports reported their busiest opening day in Cheltenham history in terms of turnover as the Festival started under the heaviest conditions this century.

4/6 favourite Buveur d’Air was the toast of punters but was made to battle hard by Melon to win the Champion Hurdle for the second consecutive year and has already been supported to make it a hat-trick in 2019.

The Nicky Henderson-trained 7-year-old became the 15th horse to become a dual Champion Hurdle winner and has seen support with BoyleSports at 5/1 to make it three in a row at next year’s Festival.

Footpad was one of the most impressive winners of the day after surviving an early error to go on and win the Arkle ahead of Brain Power. He was subsequently introduced at 4/1 to win the Champion Chase at the 2019 Festival after Willie Mullins touted the six-year-old as a possible Gold Cup horse for the future.

It may have been the heaviest ground conditions for years at the off but it didn’t stop punters making it…

It was a bit of a roller-coaster Tuesday for us with a decent start but then we saw three favourites come in before Apple’s Jade’s defeat at odds of 1/2 gave us some respite and salvaged what would have been a difficult losing day.
