Catch The Cuban Will Be Winning Races Very Soon

I was delighted with Reserve Tank’s performance at Chepstow on Saturday despite finishing second.

He was a bit “novicey” early on but he settled down and jumped well in the end but then got tired after being so keen at the beginning. All in all, I’m happy enough with the run.

He was beaten by a very good horse in Jarveys Plate. There is a lot of positives to take from the run too. I expect him to improve a lot from this.

Of my other rides at Chepstow, Catch The Cuban, that I rode for Colin Tizzard finished second.

He’ll be winning races soon enough.

In England, a 3-year old can run in a handicap hurdle and he will probably go handicapping shortly. He’ll get a 16lb allowance and could be tough enough to beat in a handicap hurdle.

Ofalltheginjoints won on his first try in a novice hurdle and I was very impressed with Fiddlerontheroof finishing second. He is a horse to keep a close eye on. He’ll go on to bigger and better things this winter.

Kildorrery ran a nice race at Limerick yesterday. He was no match for Dinons who was brilliant but I fully expect Kildorrery to improve and win one of those little races somewhere along the line.

Obviously Internal Transfer was the favourite for the Munster National so it was disappointing not to oblige. He just didn’t jump of travel with the fluency that he did in Listowel.

I went into the race with big hopes so I was very disappointed. It was a brilliant performance from the winner, Cabaret Queen and it would have taken a very good horse on the day to beat her.

She absolutely bolted up and it was another great training performance from Willie Mullins.

Overall, it was a nice start to the national hunt season but there’s a lot of big guns still to be fired over the next couple of days!
