“Cathal McShane the Tyrone difference maker” – Brian McGuigan

Former Tyrone footballer Brian McGuigan joined BoyleSports’ Leon Blanche this week on zoom to preview the All-Ireland SFC final between Tyrone and Mayo.

McGuigan says: “Tyrone can get scores all over the field and that’s where they are strong. All you have to do is look at the semi-final game against Kerry and after 20 minutes the whole full-back line and goalkeeper had scored at that stage! We are not relying on a corner forward to get all our scores.”

“Even if none of our six forwards are doing the job up top, we have McShane and Canavan to come on.

An impact sub is so important now and although he is not starting,

Cathal McShane knows he is the difference between winning and losing.”

Defensively, Tyrone has impressed the All-Star winner:

“One thing that has impressed with this Tyrone team is that they are going man to man and they are not depending on protection in front of them. I have been proved totally wrong this year. I would have agreed with Mickey Harte to have that sweeper in front of his defence because our players weren’t fit to man mark.”

“If you had of told me before the Kerry game that we were going to go man-to-man against their forwards I would of said we were a beaten docket from the start but I have to say the boys done brilliantly. If they can do it against Kerry, then they can definitely do it against Mayo.”

Bet on the GAA All-Ireland Final.
