The champagne was popping in one corner of County Cavan this week when a native transformed a €5 note into a staggering sum of money thanks to their lucky numbers.

The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, placed the accumulator in a BoyleSports shop in the County on Wednesday, picking numbers 3, 16, 30 and 34 to come out in the Lotto Plus 2 draw that evening.

Faced with a 1,500/1 chance of all four rolling out, the ambitious bet overcame the odds in the blink of an eye and triggered the five-figure payout.

The customer was able to return to the shop and pick up a jaw-dropping total payout of €37,505.
