Come On Arlene! Foster Backed To Attend All-Ireland Final

Arlene Foster has been the subject of some unlikely bets this week that she will follow up her GAA Ulster Final appearance by attending an All-Ireland Final in the next three years.

The DUP leader received a good reception when she rocked up to Clones on Sunday with party colleague Christopher Stalford for the showdown between her native County Fermanagh and eventual winners Donegal.

But some political observers don’t think her political gesturing will end there, with BoyleSports asked to quote odds this week on Foster doing the unthinkable and turning up at an All-Ireland Final. They made her a 10/1 shot to attend either of the Senior Football or Hurling Finals over the next three years, which makes her more likely to make it to Croke Park than Fermanagh themselves, who are 66/1 shots make the final this year.

Sinn Féin President Mary-Lou McDonald and deputy Michelle O’Neill were both also quoted at 10/1 to make their own political manoeuvres by visiting Orange Order HQ before the end of 2018.

BoyleSports have offered odds of 2/1 about a return of the Stormont Assembly before the year is out after McDonald commended Foster’s attendance at Clones and called for it to be followed up by “real political change and advancement.”

Arlene’s appearance at Clones has brought a few strange bet requests out of the woodwork, but it’s safe to say that before the Ulster Final…

…we would have offered much more than the 10/1 available now for the DUP leader to take a seat at Croke Park for an All-Ireland Final.

The selfies and the smiles from last Sunday have brought the restoration of Stormont back into the conversation and while the betting on an Assembly return had been totally dormant over recent months, we’ve replied to a few optimistic punters this week by offering 2/1 that the MLAs will be back in business before the end of the year.
