Declan Rice Next Club Odds & Transfer News For England Star

In this post you can find Declan Rice next club odds and all the latest transfer news around the young England midfielder.

Declan Rice – The Story So Far

It’s been a wild ride for Declan Rice, coming through the Chelsea academy before being released and subsequently joining West Ham at the age of 14. The club he has now been at for the best part of a decade that he now captains and has also made 243 appearances for.

It’s not just clubs he has switched too; he would also represent Ireland from U16-U21 levels 20 times, even going on to play 3 games for them in 2018. Rice then made a controversial switch to his birth nation England who he has already represented 41 times since 2019 with that number poised to rise considerably in the coming years.

How Good Is Declan Rice?

While his “loyalty” could be questioned and even “how good” he is, he has still garnished a reputation for being one of the most promising holding midfielders playing in the Premier League today. The England international ranks in the (93) percentile for Interceptions, in the (85) percentile for Progressive Carries,  (83) percentile for Clearances, (79) for Pass Completion and (75) for Progressive Passes.

With numbers like that it is no surprise that Declan Rice looks poised to join a “bigger club” when the transfer window opens this summer. In a press conference this season he has already said “100% I want to play in the Champions League.

You only get one career and at the end, you want to look back at what you’ve won and the biggest games you’ve played in.”  Thus, with one year left on his contract (albeit with a year option) now could be the time for Rice to move on to pastures anew. So where could he be heading?

Arsenal – Favourites To Sign Declan Rice

The Gunners are the early frontrunners for Rice with odds of 4/6 for the young England midfielder to sign for Arsenal this summer. The club had an excellent season which saw them rise from 5th in the 21/22 season to title challengers and 2nd place this season securing their first Champions League qualification since the 15/16 season.

Arsenal have primarily played with a midfield trio of Partey, Xhaka and Odegaard this season. However, Partey turns 30 this summer and Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen in the upcoming transfer window.

As a result, manager Mikel Arteta will want a younger player to anchor the midfield for years to come and Rice (24) fits the bill. The London factor could be key here as Rice would likely not even have to move house if he signed for Arsenal and would slot easily into the starting XI.

Manchester United – 4/1

Erik ten Hag has had a decent first season as Man United manager and has recruited cleverly in the transfer market. The addition of Casemiro in particular has been a breath of fresh air in midfield this season since the 30-year-old signed from Real Madrid and offered the team the defensive solidity in midfield they haven’t had in years.

The difference in the team with Casemiro and without Casemiro is night and day both stylistically, more solid and controlled, but also statistically as they have won up to 30% more when Casemiro plays.

At 30, Casemiro isn’t getting any younger and with the club’s other usual midfield options McTominay, Fred, Eriksen and Bruno all more “Number-8” types there is no direct replacement for Casemiro in the squad.

Rice would fit the bill as a younger version of Casemiro to play with and rotate with him before leading the United midfield for the next eight or nine years.

Chelsea – 8/1

A Declan Rice return? Rice spent seven years at Chelsea’s academy before being released in 2014. He would go on to move to West Ham breaking into their first team at 18  and is currently the youngest captain in the league.

Chelsea have been linked with a move back for Rice previously, but as of yet, nothing has materialised. A return to his former club always seemed the most appropriate move with him settled in London and best friends with Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount since childhood (albeit he is being heavily linked to Liverpool).

In 22/23 Chelsea spent over £600 million on transfers and so if they can navigate Financial Fair Play restrictions you would be obliged to consider them as a heavy market player for Rice.

Manchester City – 8/1

Premier League Champions, and treble winners elect? Man City are certainly the strongest of all sides potentially vying for Rice’s signature but not many if any of these sides can match the financial muscle of Man City.

The term “depth” is relative with Guardiola having the likes of Rodri, Philips, Gundogan and Silva et al to choose from but Gundogan and Silva have been linked with moves to Barcelona this summer so City could move for Rice to shore up the midfield in a move similar to their £50 million transfer of Kalvin Philips last summer, albeit Rice could cost up to double the price.

Bayern Munich – 10/1

The Bundesliga Giants have had a poor 22/23 season, characterised by huge problems off the field at boardroom level with managerial dismissals and player falling outs.

Thomas Tuchel will be looking to freshen up the Bayern squad during the off-season, with one the main areas that the club are reportedly looking to move for is a more defensive type of midfielder to partner Kimmich and allow him to play a more creative role in the team.

Rice fits exactly that bill and there is no doubt Bayern would fancy Rice in that role. However, with reported price takes for Rice ranging from £100-120 million, this will be far above the usual Bavarian price range for a player and thus, it is more likely that he stays in the Premier League.
