Diarmuid Connolly’s Odds Tumble To Start All-Ireland Final

Diarmuid Connolly has been backed to be thrown right back into the deep end of Championship football as his odds of starting this year’s All-Ireland Final crumbled on Sunday.

Manager Jim Gavin manager has now confirmed that Connolly is back in training with the side who began their Super 8s campaign on Saturday by hitting 5 goals against Cork to win by a 13-point margin.

The 32-year-old has not lined up in the blue of Dublin for over 17 months, but BoyleSports have now slashed his odds on appearing in this season’s Championship from 15/2 into 1/5. He is 2/1 from 10/1 to start the All-Ireland Final as Dublin remain 1/2 favourites to get their hands on Sam Maguire for the fifth year in succession.

It’s just Even money that Connolly finds the net in a Championship game this season while his chances of an All-Star are now at just 10/1 having been 40/1 before news broke of his return to the training pitch.

Jim Gavin hasn’t confirmed that Connolly is in the reckoning for the upcoming games, but the odds on him lining up have disintegrated.

Roscommon are next up and they may have something else to worry about now Connolly is just Even money to find the net in the Championship this season.
