English Greyhound Derby Final Preview

English Greyhound Derby Favourite

The talented Swords Rex remains the favourite to win the English Greyhound Derby final at Towcester this Saturday with BoyleSports cutting his odds into 4/6 from Evens.

This speedy son of Droopys Sydney – Starry Display continued his incredible purple patch when winning his heat in 28.76. He is now the only finalist that is unbeaten in the competition with plenty of support arriving before the big event.

Rex finished 3½ lengths in front of Romeo Command who has drifted out to 5/1 from 7/2 while qualifier Ninja Kerry was another two lengths back in third with his odds now 40/1 from 66/1.

The opening semi-final was one of the best performances you’ll ever see as Clona Duke broke the track record with a blistering 28.69. Also trained by Graham Holland, Duke is now 11/4 from 5/1 with his kennelmate Gaytime Nemo (8/1) and Cochise (33/1 from 40/1) also qualifying.

“It won’t come as a surprise to see Swords Rex as the red-hot favourite to win the £175,000 pot this weekend, but his two kennelmates have just as much of a chance so massive kudos to Graham Holland, it’s a serious achievement.

“Rex remains our biggest liability with track record breaker Clona Duke also a bad result. The best result for our book would be Ninja Kerry in trap six who might be keeping his first win of the competition for the final. Best of luck to all.”
