UEFA Euro 2020 Group Stage Predictions
There are 24 teams all set to compete at this summer’s tournament – and we can expect one exceptional month of football spanning throughout June and July as we celebrate UEFA Euro 2021. This summer’s tournament is certainly set to raise temperatures.

UEFA announced that the match ball has been designed by Adidas and is named the Uniforia ball – combining the words Unity and Euphoria, to celebrate the fact that football brings the world together. The official mascot of the tournament will be Skillzy.

The qualifying group stages will take place at 11 different host cities all across the continent, and this is the first European championship to do this. Eight of the host countries will confirm their stadium capacities based on the impact of Coronavirus in their country at that time.

There will also be 18 UEFA Euro 2020 referee match officials and increased 26-man squads – which makes this the biggest Euros of all time – and we can certainly look forward to an exciting final tournament.

Here is what to expect in the group stages of this world football tournament.

The competition is formed of 24 nations divided into six groups as follows:
Group A – Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales
Group B – Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Finland
Group C – Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia
Group D – England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Scotland
Group E – Spain, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia
Group F – Germany, France, Portugal, Hungary

Group A Predictions
Group A will offer up the opening matches – with kick-off times of 8pm on Friday 11th June. There are a couple of strong teams in the Switzerland Group – mainly Italy and Turkey.
Italy and Turkey have both performed well on the international stage up until now. However, under Mancini, Italy seems to have something extra about them. Coupled with the fact that they will be playing on home soil at the Stadio Olimpico (Olympic Stadium) in Rome, they will be difficult to beat.

Having said that, Turkey and Switzerland have proven that they can’t be taken for granted in the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament, so Italy will need to watch out for them.
Wales may also offer up a surprise or two with Gareth Bale leading the way. This is the first home nation to play on the match schedule – and after reaching the semi-finals in Euro 2016, they could yet offer another surprise.

However, we think that the best team from the group going into UEFA Euro 2021 is Italy and they will not only win Group A but would even get to the semi-finals or final of Euro 2020.

Group B Predictions
With match dates for Group B starting straight from the get-go, Group B is going to be an exciting one. The Russia group has Belgium – one of the favourites to win, as well as Denmark – another strong team. Group B has two host countries – Russia (St Petersburg) and Denmark (Copenhagen).

Belgium started as the top favourites, not just for Group B, but for the tournament – with players such as Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, who will want success after his disappointment with Manchester City in the Champions League, as well as Lukaku. However, they aren’t going into Euro 2020 as strong as we thought.

Denmark, on the other hand, is playing well and could cause an upset in the group. However, we think Belgium still has what it takes.

Group C Predictions
The North Macedonia group isn’t the strongest, however, it does have The Netherlands, which is always a strong team. This is the first major tournament for North Macedonia as an independent nation so they will want to prove themselves against the other teams – and we think games such as Ukraine vs North Macedonia and North Macedonia vs Netherlands might not be as easy for their opponents as you might think.

However, we do think that The Netherlands is by far the strongest team and will get through with a W-D-L table of 3-0-0.

Group D Predictions
Here we see our national team in the Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic group. This game will see England take on Croatia, the World Cup runners up, after losing out to them in the Russia 2018 semi-finals.

England has an excellent squad with top Premier League players from teams such Manchester United, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and more. The first game will be a repeat of the World Cup semi-final against Croatia, who isn’t looking as strong right now – the only team unable to get a win over Azerbaijan in the run-up.

The World Cup runner up team looks to be going in as a weaker team. England has home advantage at Euro 2020, playing at Wembley Stadium for all three of their Group D matches. Scotland also has a pretty decent team, boasting players from the Scottish Premier League and English Premier League such as Ryan Fraser from Newcastle, John McGinn from Aston Villa and Che Adams of Southampton.

Croatia vs Czech Republic will be tight, and if the Czech Republic beats Scotland, then this will put a lot of pressure on the Czech Republic vs England match.

Group E Predictions
This will be a great group, with teams including Spain and Sweden – both good teams. Spain is playing entertaining football but has trouble when they opt to play the ‘false nine system’.

Poland is a solid team and could cause issues – like Sweden, they can be tough to break down. Slovakia, the other team in this Euro 2020 group has not been as good recently and shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Group F Predictions
This is the group of death and the Group F runners-up will have to play the winners of England’s group. France, Portugal and Hungary are in the same group – the Germany group. Current World Champions France will be full of confidence with skilled players such as Kylian Mbappe on their side. Euro 2016 winners Portugal will not want to go out in the group stages – and neither will four-time World Champions Germany.

However, while we think Germany and Portugal will fight it out for second place, we think France will ultimately win Group F.
