Fahey To Put His Stamp On The Lincoln

We’ve got plenty of jump racing to look forward to before the season comes to a close, including the BoyleSports Irish Grand National meeting next weekend and a fascinating trainers championship to be decided, but the flat is back and Doncaster takes centre stage this afternoon.

Fahey To Put An Early Stamp On Season
Richard Fahey is never afraid to throw a few darts at a big prize and he does just that with three runners in the Lincoln at Doncaster today and while Stamp Hill may not be the most obvious of his trio, he’s the one picked to score from this corner.

Stamp Hill is a horse who should handle the ground and he is a course winner around Doncaster but whether or not a mile is a furlong too far for him remains to be seen…

but he looks good value at 25/1.

Stamp Hill caused a massive shock in first time blinkers at Ascot last summer when winning over seven-furlongs on soft ground and it couldn’t be said on that effort that he wouldn’t get further so with Lord Glitters having to defy a poor record of top weights in the Lincoln recently, it is Fahey’s big priced runner Stamp Hill that is picked to land the first major prize of the new flat season.

King Russell To Win On Queen
Davy Russell is set to be crowned champion jockey in Ireland for a third time when this current season comes to an end and he is riding at the very top of his game at the moment.

Fresh from landing the leading jockey award at Cheltenham, you can imagine that Russell is eyeing up his prospects of winning an Irish or English National to put the icing on a very good season in the saddle but on a slightly lower scale this afternoon the Cork native may win the penultimate handicap hurdle at Thurles.

Queen Khalessi ran just on Monday at Limerick when unseating at the fourth last in a race won by Ballea Fox who is likely to be favourite for this race again as he reappears quickly.

The top weight runs off an 11lbs higher mark than on Monday and that is a big ask for a horse who had shown very little up until the other day and Queen Khalessi may just benefit from Russell’s experience this afternoon.

The six-year-old finished second to the Russell-ridden Goodthynemilan at Thurles back in February and that Gordon Elliott runner has gone on to win since and was second at Limerick the other day again so in a race where cases can be made for so few…

Queen Khaleesi looks better value than the short price favourite.
