England’s Nations League Hopes Drift

England will clinch a place as UEFA Nations League finalists if Spain fail to beat Croatia this week and they win their final game against the Croats at home, but punters are not confident it is going to happen.

Gareth Southgate’s side warm up for their tie against Croatia with a friendly against the USA on Thursday and are hot 1/4 favourites with us to go into next weekend’s Wembley showdown off the back of a win. However their outright chances have been eased out to 10/1 from 8/1 with bets on them claiming the top honours next June thin on the ground.

World Champions France meanwhile are now the favourites to become the first UEFA Nations League Champions after overtaking Spain in the betting.

Didier Deschamps’ side have been hit by injuries ahead of this week’s trip to Holland with Benjamin Mendy joining Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial on the sidelines, while Alexandre Lacazette has turned down a call-up from the manager to take the place of Martial.

The winners in Russia this summer however have been backed heavily to win the inaugural staging of the competition and are 5/2 from 7/2, seeing them leapfrog Spain who are 3/1 shots ahead of their tricky trip to Croatia.
