Friday Night Lights – League Of Ireland Betting Tips & Odds

In this post, we will be previewing both the League of Ireland Premier Division and First Division ahead of this Friday night’s action.

League Of Ireland Premier Division Table

Here’s how the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division table looks after round 29:

Derry City Shamrock Rovers

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 15th September

Where? The Brandywell, Derry

How To Watch? Virgin Media Two

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Derry City are 5/4 Shamrock Rovers are 11/5, and the draw is 11/5.

Preview

Derry City currently trail their opponents at the top of the table with two identical league records of thirteen points in their last five league matches. The task for Derry is very simple in this match, win the game and they will be well in the mix to stop Shamrock Rovers four in a row one point behind with six games remaining, draw and the task remains very difficult and if they lose consider their challenge over for another year.

The remit and job for Shamrock Rovers will be very simple, win in Derry and even avoid defeat and their four-in-a-row dreams will be very likely with six games remaining in the league season. From their Head to Head in all competitions this season they’re both on two victories a piece, however, they will gain a lot of solace having won the last two games 1-0 and 0-2.

Prediction

Derry City 1-1 Shamrock Rovers

Best Bet

Draw – Score 16/5

Sligo Rovers v UCD

When? 7.45 pm, Saturday, 17th September

Where? The Showgrounds, Sligo

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Sligo Rovers are 3/10, UCD are 15/2 and the draw is 4/1.

Preview

Sligo Rovers are in terrible form with four defeats and one draw in their last five league games. They will be coming into this one following a fourteen-day break from matches with their last game coming in a 3-0 defeat against Cork City which has blown the relegation playoff race back into contention with seven games remaining. Confidence may be low here and I sense they could be fragile, despite on paper having more than enough to win this one.

UCD have seven games remaining in the Premier Division before their inevitable relegation back to the First Division with one point in their last five league games. Last time out they were humbled 0-5 by Derry City. However, it should be noted that UCD beat them 2-1 at home back in June and they will have a free hit in this game.

Prediction

Sligo Rovers 1-1 UCD

UCD or Draw 11/5

Bray v Treaty

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 15th September

Where? Carlisle Grounds, Bray

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Bray can be gotten at 5/6, Treaty United are 11/4, while the draw is 15/4.

Preview

Bray, despite their early season form have only accumulated four points in their last five league games and are now seven points off the playoffs with six games remaining in the regular league season. They were beaten by champions-elect Galway 1-4 last Friday Night and it will now take a mammoth run of form for them to reach the playoffs.

Treaty are in great form despite having seven points in their last five games, they only have one point in their last three. Treaty one point behind Bray are another team which will need a phenomenal run of form if they’re to reach the playoffs.

Best Bet

Treaty United @ 11/4

Athlone v Kerry

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 15th of September

Where? Athlone Stadium, Athlone

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Athlone are 2/13, Kerry can be gotten at 14/1 while the draw is 6/1.

Preview

Athlone are currently in fourth place and are very likely to be in the playoffs come the end of the season bar and a mighty collapse. What will be more interesting is to see how Athlone approaches these remaining matches and how they prepare for them with regards to squad rotation, tactical changes etc.

Kerry continued their progress on the field with a 0-0 draw against Longford Town last Friday night which was their second draw in their last five league games. Kerry got their first-ever League of Ireland victory against Athlone and so will be approaching this with a free-hit mentality again.

Prediction

Athlone 3-1 Kerry

Best Bet

Athlone Win and Over 3.5 Goals @ 23/20

Waterford v Cobh

When? 8.00 pm, Friday 15th September

Where? The Regional Sports Centre, Waterford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Waterford can be gotten at 1/3, Cobh Ramblers are 13/2, while the draw is 4/1.

Preview

Waterford have eight points in their last five league games, victims of purgatory as I said, not good enough to challenge Galway but seemingly too good for the sides below them on the table. To their credit, they travelled to Donegal last weekend and won 0-4 against Finn Harps despite a long journey. I still think there is an air of fragility about their playoff credentials.

Cobh currently occupies third place with eight points in their last five including winning two games on the bounce following their 1-0 win against Athlone last Friday they will be hoping to make it three from three in this match and there is a part of me that fancies their chances.

Prediction

Waterford 2-2 Cobh

Best Bet

Cobh Ramblers or Draw 21/10
