Galway Punters Stake €10,000 On McGregor Beating Khabib

Conor McGregor’s brash display at last week’s UFC press conference clearly reverberated to the streets of Galway after two natives from the county struck massive bets on the Dublin man returning to the Octagon with a victory.

We can report that we received two bets of €5,000 each in separate locations in Galway on Monday,

…leaving us with a potential payout totalling €23,750 if those two bets alone are on the money.

We reacted immediately by cutting the odds on McGregor beating Khabib Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas into 13/10 from 11/8, with the Russian eased to 4/6 having started the weekend at 6/10.

McGregor’s confidence on turning the bets into winners was on full show in New York last week when he promised to make light work of the highly anticipated face-off, saying that he even believed he could finish off his opponent in the first round.

McGregor is 9/2 for a first round KO and 10/1 to win on points.

If the patriotic punters continue to get behind their man in this fashion, we could even see Conor go off favourite.
