Gary McAllister: Liverpool Won’t Go Away In Premier League Title Race

Liverpool are well equipped to sustain their Premier League title challenge this season.

That’s according to former Kop favourite Gary McAllister who has backed the Reds to keep pace with Man City in the race for the Premier League title.

McAllister, who also had successful stints at Leicester, Leeds and Coventry during his playing career, was also full of praise for Endo, outlined how the club can deal with the loss of Mo Salah and gave his verdict on whether Liverpool should enter the Mbappe sweepstakes.

Liverpool Won’t Go Away In Premier League Title Race

I don’t necessarily see City romping to the title, but you have to finish above them to win the title.

City went into the FIFA Club World Cup a little bit behind in the title race, but they’ve returned as World Champions, and that will give them a huge boost. They’re still capable of going from now until the end of the season without conceding a goal or losing a game!

I’ve watched a lot of Liverpool this season, and they’ve produced some amazing combinations and phases of play. Jurgen Klopp says that there’s still a bit more to come from them, but the key aspect is how Liverpool always seem to find a way to win.

Salah’s form has been incredible this season and he’s broken so many club records recently. He’s also created so many assists! He’s held more width this season and Alexander-Arnold has had a slight positional shift – something that has confused a lot of clubs.

Liverpool look as if they can score goals and they won’t go away. They’re a club that knows how to win – even if Salah will miss the next few games on international duty.

Man City & Liverpool To Fight For Premier League Title

I’d say City and Liverpool are the two clubs who will fight for the title. Arsenal have had a bit of a rocky period, but I think they’ll come back.

Spurs have had a few injuries and they’ll also lose some players to the African Cup of Nations. It’s a very exciting Premier League season with so many clubs involved. I also have to mention Aston Villa, as they’ve been outstanding.

Liverpool Have Strength In Depth To Deal With Salah Loss

Mohamed Salah is without doubt Liverpool’s star player and he’s a very unique footballer. His absence will give other players the chance to step up.

I’ve been very impressed by Harvey Elliott this season. He’s an impact player who can come on and create something when Liverpool are struggling. I’m also impressed with Ben Doak and Curtis Jones.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Waturo Endo all give Liverpool strength in depth. The fans love Darwin Nunez as his work rate is fantastic, even if he’s missed a few chances. He always keeps running, and I have confidence in him to deliver.

Perhaps the absence of Salah will motivate him to take his chances and score more goals. Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez will all still feature for Liverpool and there are goals there. Having Mac Allister back is a boost, too. He’s played a few games out of his natural position, but he’s also capable of scoring a few.

It’s exciting for Liverpool at the moment.

Endo Is A ‘Genuine Number Six’

Wataru Endo came in after Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Gravenberch, and it was difficult for him to get minutes at first.

I think players arriving for European leagues usually take a while to adapt to the speed and intensity of the Premier League, but Endo has adapted well. He’s certainly gone under the radar as he wasn’t a household name by any means.

He looks like a Liverpool player. He seems as if he’s at home at Liverpool, and he’s a genuine number six. He’ll be a miss as he plays in the Asia Cup, but Liverpool have plenty of other options and I think they’ll be fine.

Liverpool Should Be Ready To Enter Mbappe Sweepstakes

I think clubs like Liverpool should always be there when a world superstar like Kylian Mbappe becomes available.

If there’s an opportunity there, and if the Mbappe deal is in line with the budgets and how the club is run, then Liverpool should be interested as far as I’m concerned.

We’ll have to see what happens style-wise. Jurgen Klopp’s style is attacking and front-foot, and it would suit Mbappe.

The world’s top five or six clubs will always want to be involved when a player of that calibre becomes available, and Liverpool are a part of that group.

Over the last few years, people have been saying that Mbappe’s next step was Real Madrid, but the link with Liverpool has also been there.

Liverpool were also in the picture when Jude Bellingham was available. I can’t see a reason why they couldn’t get Mbappe if the deal worked for them.
