Gleneagles Now 11/4 As Richard Pankhurst Misses 2000 Guineas

Following the news that Richard Pankhurst will miss the 2000 Guineas, the Aidan O’Brien trained Gleneagles has hardened into 11/4 from 3/1.

His nearest rival in the betting is the John Gosden trained, Faydhan at 9/2. Next in the betting is Ivawood at 6/1 to give Richard Hannon Junior back to back successes as a trainer in the race.

It’s then 9/1 Highland Reel with Zawraq available at 10/1. Another Aidan O’Brien horse Ol Man River, who remains unbeaten, is priced at 16/1 alongside Elm Park and Estidhkaar.

John Gosden will be disappointed that Richard Pankhurst will miss the 2000 Guineas, but he holds a really strong chance with Faydhan, who will be bidding to give the trainer his first success in the race.

Gleneagles has been the subject of a 2000 Guineas Antepost gamble having been supported down from 8/1 in the past month, but with Aidan O’Brien’s 2000 Guineas plans still up in the air the ante post gamble has dried up in the last few days despite Gleneagles heading the betting.
