In the eagerly awaited Sussex Stakes clash between Ribchester and Churchill, the dual Guineas winner is picked to oblige.

Stick with Churchill
Ribchester has never been in better form and will pose a serious challenge to Churchill who is on a mission of retrieval after his poor showing at Royal Ascot, but that is a run too bad to be true.

As a three-year-old himself last season, Ribchester was just touched off in this race by the Gurkha and he has gone on to prove himself a very capable Group 1 performer, but Churchill deserves another chance.

At Royal Ascot, when he clearly under performed, he was still only beaten four-lengths by Lancaster Bomber and the vibe from Ballydoyle is that he is back in good shape after that mishap.

Ribchester is good, but Churchill could still be very, very good.

One at a price at Goodwood is in the opener where Guard Of Honour just stood out as a 20/1 shot that will outrun his odds and hopefully make the each-way frame.

The son of Galileo has only won once on the flat in 14 starts with his only other success coming over hurdles, but he’ll stay the trip and this is a drop in class from his Royal Ascot appearance. Hopefully he can find something like his form from the November Handicap last season and give a good account of himself.
