Glorious Goodwood 2018 Day 2 Betting Tips – Niall Cronin

There would be some question marks over the depth of the three-year-olds this year but the BoyleSports betting would suggest that two three-year-olds are set to battle out the finish of the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood this afternoon.

Stoute Could Be The Expert Again
Frankie Dettori missed out on the big race ride aboard Stradivarius yesterday and his intended mount in the Sussex Stakes, Without Parole, is favourite to give Andrea Atzeni another Group 1 win in the absence of his fellow Italian.

Expert Eye looked a very exciting two-year-old last year but failed to bring that level of form on his first couple of outings this year until he got to Royal Ascot and bolted up there.

James Doyle couldn’t be in better form at the moment and he takes over from James McDonald on the three-year-old who is just preferred at this level to Without Parole, who is already a Group 1 winner but might have been fortunate to win a below standard renewal of the St James’s Palace Stakes.

The key for Expert Eye is that he settles well and it looks as though the master Sir Michael Stoute has got the better of the colt in that regard which resulted in a much better showing at Ascot. in a race that lacks real quality he would be the pick at 5/2.

Luca And Luke Know The Drill
The 1m4f handicap on day two of Glorious Goodwood might just go the way of the improving Drill for Luca Cumani and Luke Morris. The three-year-old was a winner at Chelmsford last month before winning nicely on his second start in a handicap at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago.

That was a lesser race than this and on his handicap debut he was eight lengths behind Infrastructure who he meets again today. While Drill only meets him on slightly better turns for that big difference, it just looked as though the penny might have dropped with him last time when he was dropped in and went about his business in the closing stages. might just suit Drill better than most and in a trappy little race he would get the nod.
