Goals Backed As Coventry And Birmingham Clash In BoyleSports Derby

Coventry City and Birmingham City are seeking to end runs of two straight defeats when they meet at their shared home of St. Andrews in Friday night’s Championship encounter, live on Sky Sports.

The clash will be the first league meeting between the pair since 2012, but they played out two draws in last season’s FA Cup before Birmingham prevailed via a penalty shootout in the fourth round.

It’s Coventry who up are against the odds again at 17/10 to overcome their tenants, with Birmingham 6/4 favourites to secure the fourth win of their campaign.

Another draw, which would be the fifth time in succession the sides could not be separated after 90 minutes, has been backed into 11/5 from 3/1.

One thing punters are banking on is goals with Coventry’s last five averaging just short of four goals per game.

Each of Birmingham’s last four matches have featured at least three goals and it’s an 11/10 shot from 7/5 that the run continues against a Coventry side whose matches this season have also averaged over three goals per game.

With four goals and two assists in the Championship this season, Matt Godden has contributed to half of Coventry’s league goals and is expected to return to the starting line up having missed the recent defeat to Watford.

He is the most likely candidate to open the scoring according to the betting at 5/1, and just 7/4 from 11/5 to score at any time during the 90 minutes.

BoyleSports, who sponsor both sides, are marking the ‘BoyleSports Derby’ by offering customers a free bet of up £/€10 if the team they back loses the match.
